They can't find enough work or life skills to have their own place, their own income, and their own business building skills, but need mom to make calls to friends? What do I really think they would have to offer me?
Crazy what some people will do for their adult children. My advice to the parents would be, The real world is tough, get them out there now, before you aren't there to fix everything for them.
My mom had a saying and it's true. If your kids aren't eager to leave home once grown (that can be a different age for those going to college vs those straight to the workforce from high school) you haven't done your job as a parent. They should either be excited to get on with their own life, or miserable enough living under your rule that they welcome leaving and doing it on their own. And I have to say, she is right. Kids at home till they are long past their educational journey isn't good for anyone, in most cases.

I would never have the nerve to make a call like that.

Sounds like mom and the kids need the life coach.

Admire their choice to start a business in this environment, it is great that family can help out.. Networking is a huge part of success in business. Wish them well.

I'd love to know what their 'certification' involved. While I'll grant you now is not a great time to try to embark on a job hunt, it sounds like these kids might be at least a few years past the sell by date for life 'coaches'. I'm sure there are those who might still hire one, but more often than not, these types of 'professionals' are the butt of many a joke on sitcoms. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd guess it takes a certain kind of person to think they actually need or can benefit greatly by paying someone to coach them to do what most people just get on with their lives and do.

Does it matter how old they are or where they live? They have to start somewhere. Who knows what they have done so far. Maybe they have the experience.
Thank God their Mom is on their side.

She has twins, a boy and a girl.
The son is now a business coach the daughter is a life coach. They have some sort of certification.
They are 23 or 24 (?), live at home, this is their first job.
I was speechless. I honestly did not know what to say. She thought since I worked with a lot of professionals and do volunteer work with people moving from jobs to careers that I could refer people to her children. ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I can not imagine PAYING a 20 something-year-old with no work experience, living at home for career or life coaching.
It's a head-scratcher!
If the children had called soliciting referrals I'd keep them in mind in the off chance they would be suitable for someone in the future. However, if they don't have the drive to place calls themselves it would be a definite no.

Yes, they're young. Most people start when they're young...or they're accused of freeloading, slacking.
Who here had their own place when self-employed/with their first job.
I think mom is wrong. If they asked her to get business for them, she could refuse. She's helping them so they will move out? I doubt it. She wants then to be successful...as any mother would.
