Things can happen in a blink of the eye

I can't believe how close we came to losing our grandson last week.  DH and I learned about it this afternoon, and I'm still rattled to my core.

He's a first grader, just six years old.  Five full-size metal school lockers--that had somehow not been secured to the wall--fell over onto him last week.  It took four men to pull them off.   Amazingly, he came away with only a bruise on his arm.

Parents, not to be an alarmist, but it could be worth it just to 'double check' at your child's school.  Our story could have been one of those completely avoidable tragedies. Thank God it is not.

Strive for respect instead of attention. It lasts longer.

Thankful that he came out of it unscathed.

His guardian angels were watching over him.  Your family has been blessed with a happy ending.

Oh No! How awful and scary, thank God that your grandson is alright.

Well, @IamMrsG, your dear DGS's guardian angel was on the job, most definitely. Thank the good Lord he wasn't seriously hurt. What dolt "forgot" to secure lockers that hold a lot of weight to the wall?  It was probably an outsourced job. Anyway, things like this really give us pause to reflect on what matters most.

Not to put ideas in your head but I would be seriously tempted to contact an attorney, if only to prevent an incident like this from recurring. Perhaps an OSHA inspection policy could be implemented school system wide before using newly built/installed/mounted equipment.

Children are supposed to be safe at school.

Reminds me of the recent IKEA recall on chests and dressers. I'm glad he's OK. That was definitely a close call.

What a close call.  I'm so sorry this happened but relieved that he escaped with bruises and no broken bones
