In Will County, Illinois, their public works union have turned down a new contract. Just for context, Will County partly borders Cook County, which contains Chicago.
It offers a 14.5% pay raise (not sure of over what time) and 90% coverage for their health care.
They now pay 1% for a single coverage, and 2% for family coverage - the new contract requires 10% of their coverage.
It is stated they haven't had a raise for 4 years.
Wow - if our health care coverage only required a 10% contribution, I'd latch on to that in a nanosecond! We currently pay 50% plus co-pays and deductibles.
I happen to live in Will County. So, we the taxpayers only get 50% coverage, and we are being ask to fund their 10% coverage, and that's not good enough????
