It's pouring in Paradise Hills.  Getting any moisture in RR?

@just bee    Yes, its wet outside.  My dogs didn't want to go out.  Its kind of a heavy mist, not pouring.  Cold and damp.

This year it's October 1 through 9.  It's the first full week of October.  Next year will be October 7 through 15.

@just bee    I think the tiger is my favorite balloon this year.  The picture I posted earlier of him peeking over the house is so cute.  I love his expression.  I wonder what happened to the bees?

Re: They're Up, Up, and Away in Albuquerque Today

@shoekitty    The balloons we've pictured here just go up fairly briefly then land.

There is a different shaped balloon, very round, that uses helium gas instead of a propane burner and they fly "races" every year to see who can go the furthest.  Because of the prevailing westerly winds, they'll never fly over Nevada.  They usually end up somewhere like Michigan or Minnesota, sometimes not that far, in the Midwest.  The pilots have little control over where they go.  They're strictly wind-driven.  The fuel just makes them go up.

They have this race every year but due to the weather, this year is "iffy".

@just bee    Just heard the gas balloon race for this year has been cancelled due to weather.
