@Desertdi.  Yes, they were talking about it on the weather last night.  We're expecting a cold front today with wind when it gets here.  Its supposed to get down to 39° Wednesday night and I have no heat since I haven't called someone to shut down my swamp cooler.  By now, there will be a waiting list everywhere.  Then after that, here comes the hurricane.  Great time for a balloon affair.

Did you get a lot of rain from Rosa?  I think it rained lightly here most of Wednesday night.  No torrential downpour.

@Kachina624   We had much the same......steady rain (2" in some places),  but no wind.   There was localized flooding, some property damage.......no casualties.

@sunshine45.   Albuquerque  is in a valley along the Rio Grande with the Sandia Mts, on the East side and a mesa on the West.  The balloon field is in the valley and that's where they stay.  You'd get a good view of them from the edge of the West Mesa but I can't see them from my house.  Since ballooning is so popular here, there are usually balloons out every morning, especially weekends.  I saw a couple in my neighborhood this morning.  When you hear a chorus of dogs barking in the morning, you can bet there is a balloon around.  They sound like a dragon roaring when they hit the burner.  Sometimes they're so low you can hear the passengers talking.

@sunshine45

I live at the top of a steep hill on the Westside so I can watch the balloons from my driveway -- with the Sandias as a backdrop.

If you live in this area, balloons are often in the sky -- not just during October.  Gotta be careful how you go outside in the morning because you never know when a balloon will be over your backyard. Woman Happy

Its a beautiful, crisp fall morning for the first day of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.  There are 500 balloons registered with pilots from 16 countries.  We are very excited this morning.

Sounds like a lot of fun.  Minus the Channel 4 sign, that photo would make a beautiful painting.

We have a friend from PA arriving later today and planned on going tomorrow for the evening glow.   But with the winds......   We've planned a flexible schedule this week so can go another day.   We are going Wed moring for the Flight of the Nations Mass Ascension .  Looking forward to it.

Kachina624:  did you see my response a couple of weeks ago to your question regarding the itinerary you posted for me?     I didn't see it and I've looked and looked for it on various threads.  We moved to Santa Fe Sept 1 and know your list would be great to find.  Thank you!!!
