Re: They Know I'm Old When I Say My Name

@PamfromCT : Thank you. I totally agree with everything you posted. My body currently making me feel very old but mentally feeling very young and silly. I still love to laugh and giggle.

DH just asked that if I need a wheelchair : What will I call it or a special name? I call my upright walker : My Cadillac because insurance refused to pay. Next weeks doctor appointments will be interesting. I am thankful to still being alive knowing that I was a very premature baby in 1954 . Lord willing: I will be celebrating my 70th Birthday on Tuesday. I have requested a birthday cake and ice cream. Inviting everyone over to celebrate and we can discuss : Our middle names.🙄😯😯🤓🤓🤓🤓

I guess there's no harm with me telling you my name.  Cheryl

Yep that's my era. @PhilaLady1   Deborah (Debbie) , Susan, Cheryl, Nancy, Cindy, Linda, Sandra... my name too became dated. I knew my name was done when I stopped seeing name necklaces at the Hallmark store with my name. 😁 A "hipper" version, only slightly altered, became popular.  i was born in the early 50s.

Re: They Know I'm Old When I Say My Name

I was named after my grandmother. Never knew her. Her name was Margaret. Most people call me by my middle name which I prefer because I had a few cousins named Margaret. Some people called me Princess Margaret because she was my favorite Princess.

Re: They Know I'm Old When I Say My Name

Being born into an Irish family I was given the name Kathleen. Throughout my years in parochial school I was always addressed by my full name from the nuns who taught me.

At home I was always called Kathy.  When I became an adult I just dropped my full name on all of my legal documents such as driver license and passport and just went by the name Kathy.

Almost all of the girls that I've met named Kathleen or Kathy were born around the same time as I was.

It certainly isn't a name that you hear these days.

@PhilaLady1  I like the name Cheryl. I equate it with a girl that I went to grammar school with. She was stunning with long blonde/brown hair and hazel blue eyes. She looked like and angel to me.

My dad named me for his mom. I never met her. The name was HUGE for me to write. So many letters. She passed when he was 23.

I never had a person with my name in grammar school, high school, or college. It was so weird not to know another _____. But, funny enough, when hubs and I moved to our present home many years ago, I met THREE women with my name. So funny.

I have to be honest, I never appreciated my name till I was in my 50's. I always used the nic for it much to my father's chagrin. LOL. I have been introducing myself by my full name for about 20 years now. I finally grew into it and love it a lot.Woman Very Happy
