Two men from Portland have become social media stars

thanks to their incredible ability to turn their burly beards

into fanciful works of art, before sharing images of their

whimsical creations on Instagram.

Brian Delaurenti and Johnathan Dahl, who are known as

The Gay Beards on social media, were inspired to start

snapping photos of their facial hair last summer, and only a

few weeks into their unique photo project, the best friends

began decorating their beards with colorful flowers, glitter

and tasty treats.

Stunning bouquet: The guys threw on sunglasses to show off their beautiful rose covered beards

Wild and free: While Johnathan is a musician, Brian is an artist who specializes in painting and photography

Flower power: 'Don't ever stop wishing,' they captured this picture of their beards covered with dandelions

All shapes and colors: Brian and Johnathan started growing out their beards in 2013 and have had them ever since

Edible arrangement: The guys said that decorating their beards can take anywhere from 20 minutes to two hours or more

Feeling patriotic: Johnathan and Brian went all out for the Fourth of July

I can't stand the way some of these men (not here but most places) let their beards grow without trimming them. They look so dirty and unkempt all scraggly and gross.

I don't mind seeing a guy who has a short clean looking beard; although I prefer a clean shaven face. I never gave it much though as my late husband grew a short beard (few days growth) after he got out of the Army. Then Summer came and it came off.

Very unique pictures. I don't care for facial hair on men, for the most part. IMO the man with the gray streak would look very nice without his beard.
