It might depend on what part of the country you live in that determines the term you use. I say fall decorating, we have Fall Festivals, I pick corn, pumpkins, apples,, but I do like the way Harvest Festival sounds.

I am flabbergasted that anyone would feel the need to capitalize the word fall.

I have always used the terms harvest, fall, and autumn to describe the season, decor, and celebrations. I love the term harvest as it evokes the long tradition of gathering in the fruits of one’s labor, a very satisfying feeling.

There seems to be some confusion about capitalizing “fall” and other seasons.   Probably because sometimes seasons are capitalized and sometimes they are not.

I did not know about the specific rules for capitalizing seasons.  Now I do.

Harvest makes me think of Chuckie, Elm Street and Bette Davis.

The seasons are common nouns rather than proper nouns so shouldn't be capitalized. Sometimes in poetry the seasons are capitalized when they are personified. I remember this from grade school.  However I don't think there's any need for flabbergastery (I think I made up this word but so what?) if people happen to capitalize the seasons.

I grew up in a small town where there were a lot of farming families.  Harvest time always meant it was time for them to get their crops in for the winter......used as a verb.  Otherwise it was always Fall or Autumn when referring to decorating.

I say fall decorating; but then when someone asks about it I clarify the statement by explaining my harvest theme.  Even though Halloween is great fun, I don't decorate for halloween (except for my giant witch's shoes by the door.)  Some might include Halloween in their fall decorations, I don't.  So to me, the term harvest is more of a theme within the realm of fall decorating.
