First of all, I am not impressed with either of the actors, and more importantly, from the minute I heard that the movie was dealing with the slap stick proposed assassination of an actual political leader, I felt it was in bad taste AND provocative, given the modus operandi of that particular leader. Our government will respond to the illegal hacking and its threats. News flash: they aren't going to launch missiles as some of you seem to want. However, I can't imagine our government reacting to Sony's pulling of the film, UNLESS they also respond to the content of said movie. Sony's bottom line is MONEY. If there are no theaters who want the movie, there is NO money. Our government did not pull the film. Sony did. As a business, it's their prerogative. As for those of you who are so incensed about it, rest assured you WILL eventually have access to it and Sony will recoup their loss. And when the awards come about, perhaps they will create a new category so The Interview can take it "rightful" place alongside SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, SCHINDLER'S LIST, PHILADELPHIA, THE KING'S SPEECH, and other examples of grand cinema.

I'm sure theaters and Sony will wait until the anticipation and curiosity has built so high that even people who never had an interest in the movie will rush out in droves and happily dish out the money when it comes out in theaters in the near future.
IMO we're all pawns in this and it's a huge scam.
I agree that the movie will eventually be released one way or another, and will probably do well because of the publicity. I'll add that I find it odd for anyone to even entertain the idea that this brouhaha has "brought the country to its knees."
One entertainment company has chosen to stop the premiere of one film, certainly hasn't even verified the film never will be seen. It's probably a temporary delay. As said before, it has potential of being a worrisome precedent set by a business, it's an interesting topic for discussion, but not an earth-shattering commentary on our government, for heaven's sake.
It's weird to me because it sounds just like propaganda directly out of the North Korean leader's mouth.
Obviously it hasn't brought us to our knees so why repeat it or even acknowledge it? It's nonsense.
Of course it has. That one single act by the NK hackers has erased all of our freedom of speech rights with regards to that film. We caved completely and they won. It's not propaganda, it's simply the term I used to describe the effect their terrorist act had on our entertainment industry. No discussion ensued, no compromise was met, just full and complete submission to their threats.
We're discussing it now so it hasn't erased our freedom of speech rights with regards to that film or North Korea or it's leader. We aren't being silenced are we? Our freedom of speech has not been taken away has it?
Sony is a business. Any business can pull it's product off the "shelves" and not let consumers buy it. It happens all of the time.
I was referring to the freedom of speech of the writers, actors, and film industry, not shoppers on a shopping channel board.
Oh Topaz, clearly Sony "pulled" this due to "product safety issues" it happens all the time. Nothing to see here and if you dare to comment in the negative you will be characterized as a "conspiracy theorist"
Thanks, Cara, I just found that out when I got caught up with all the replies.
I'm also 'one of those' that is in the middle of a hysterical reaction, because I can't talk about ebola any longer, so I'm substituting that subject with this one, LOL. Oh well...it's not going to stop me from voicing my opinion, so people are just going to have to figure out how to deal with it.
I don't think anyone has any negative reactions to you expressing your opinions. I may not agree but I certainly don't look down on your input.
As for the conspiracy theorist comment...
Oh well...
I suppose it's OK to mock the administration and theorize the downfall of western civilization then.
Forgive me if I offended those who feel this way.

I want to roll my eyes as well since some can offend others but G-d forbid it is spoken of in reply.

Well, there are many posts here who think rolling over with our white flag of surrender was the appropriate thing to do. Sad, isn't it? And you know what? I don't blame the people of NK for popping the champagne. We've become changed as a country, just as promised.

I don't think anyone suspects the citizens of NK to be popping champagne, just the Dear Leader and his minions. From what I hear (and from what he looks like), he is not among those that are starving. I hear he lives quite well and has all the creature comforts, including internet.
