Re: The price of gas in NJ

[ Edited ]

Taxes in California, 58.83 cents per gallon. The bulk of the Golden State's gas taxes comes from its excise tax of 30 cents per gallon. The state also collects a 2.25% sales tax on gasoline, plus applicable district taxes.  Our prices are much higher per gallon than those mentioned in this thread.  Gas is around $2.75 a gallon.

They will steal the money again and again and never fix anything. Sorry, I am very cynical about it. And I forgot to fill up also.

I am surprised that the Chicagoland area is still in the $2.00 range.  Where I live it is running $2.27/gal and it can change weekly.  I pray it stays low.  Sorry to hear about your increase.  Do you still have attendants filling the tank? Cat Very Happy

There is an additional Federal tax of 18.4?

Yes @bri20. In addtion to the fed tax each state has their own state tax which varies, you can look that up on wiki I believe.  So for every gallon sold the federal government gets that. Nice for doing nothing, huh?
