I have never had a vest for outerwear. If it is cold does it keep you warm with no arms in it? I like the fact that yours arms would not be restricted but just don't get how my arms would not be cold. Never really understood the concept.

I've never bought one for that very reason. However, my sister and niece wear them all the time.

I too have never worn a vest until this year. I am wearing a long sleeve shirt with the vest in the house when i am chilly so I leave the thermostat at the same setting all the time. I have temperature fluctuations throughout the day. I like the vest for long distance driving as well. I live in upstate NY so not wearing outside right now but will try under my winter coat as it gets even colder.
I preordered today's TSV vest and like it very much. Ordered Maroon - Large and feel it is true to size.

With this el nino winter we're having I'm getting so much use out of all my winter vests! My arms never get cold. I love wearing just a vest especially when shopping, at least I won't get overheated in those hot stores.

I have a couple of quilted vests and I thought I would wear them a lot. But really I am not that crazy about them. It's too warm to wear them in the house. And when I go out, I am too cold to just wear them. I think if you knew you wouldn't have far to go when you were shopping --- the car to the store --- maybe they would be o.k. A waste of money as far as I am concerned.

I think the vest is nice looking but the collar looks very thick from the back. That's my only reservation. I would think this would be an excellent choice for the shopping mall where it's always too hot for a full winter coat.

It depends on how/when you will wear it & your preferences. I live in west Michigan where our winters are nasty, but I wouldn't wear it as the outer-most layer unless it was a "balmy" day outside or if I were driving. If we will be driving somewhere, then inside a lot (like to the mall or going to lunch) I would wear it. I have a whole wardrobe of fleece vests and am just startin to accumulate down/puffy vests. I have asked for a creamy beige one for Christmas (Land's End) in fleece. They carry a petite size which works out better on this short frame.

I have two kinds of vests, indoor and outdoor. Indoor are fleece that I wear with a long sleeve Tshirt. The outdoor will depend on the weather. Either I wear over a sweatshirt or under my winter coat.

Interestingly it seems that if the core of your body is warm the rest of your body stays warm also. Also if you have ever noticed, if your are wearing a neck scarf it does a good job at keeping your body warm even without your jacket as it is covering the carotid artery in your nedk. Your circulating blood is kept warm and so then is the rest of your body.
