Hang in there Ford. It's all going to be alright. Good idea about not unpacking just yet. You also don't want mold spores spreading onto your things.

Ford, as I write this, I hope you and your daughter are sound asleep and getting the much needed rest both of you need.

I'm glad to hear the inspection was done and should hear something by mid next week. This is the last thing the both of you need to deal with.

Please keep us updated; I was so hoping you and your daughter would be able to enjoy your new living place. If I'm not mistaken, I thought I read she had a scheduled visit to her doctor about her Lymes. I sincerely wish both of you some good times very soon.

Someone else in this thread said that if I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck. She was right I guess. I just saw two of their maintenance trucks pull up and two men got out and did a walk-around the outside of the apartment. They probably know we had the inspection done because they undoubtedly saw the truck yesterday and I guess might have been checking out what the inspector was looking at. I think they know they are in trouble.

My family was going to come this weekend to further help us with unpacking, but we have decided to stop unpacking now, not because we are thinking we will have to move, but because there will be people in here while we might have to leave for a few days, and the less unpacked, the less likely someone would be tempted to take something. (See how trusting I am?)

Erin did go to the Lyme doc yesterday and he told her she has made no progress. She cannot go to the "next level," whatever that means. So I expect her to stay in bed most of the time for now. She probably overdid too much and didn't stick to her diet. We are both pretty depressed.

Thank you for your sincere wishes, HisElk. {#emotions_dlg.wub}

If you haven't seen it, I just came across an article on everydayhealthdotcom about a woman's struggle with undiagnosed Lyme disease. It was published on April 6, 2015. Just throw in Lyme disease in the search box and it will come up.

If it is black mold, Stachybotrys, they will need to determine how far it has traveled and if it's throwout the building, it may not be an easy or fast fix.

Thank you JSS!! And if you looked at her and was asked to guess her name, that would be your guess. She's a tiny little thing, just 5'1" tall, with black hair (now streaked with gray) and huge blue eyes. She has dimples and up to getting sick, the most adorable personality, always giggling and laughing. Everyone loves her, guys went ga ga over her, she just had "IT."

I know, there goes Ford bragging about her kids again! [It kills me to see her this way.]

That's what the environmental guy hinted at. If it's the whole building, I have no idea what is going to happen. As I said, there are three hundred apartments in here, six apartments per building. And very well kept otherwise, as far as I can tell. It would be a huge undertaking and I hope it can just be limited to our apartment and that's it. I can't imagine the neighboring tenants not noticing what will be going on here.

Ford, I'm so sorry, I know how difficult it was for you to find the "perfect" place! As a paralegal,,of course I'm thinking legal action, the owners clearly did not disclose a hazard to your health and that really bothers me. At the very least, I'd report them to the County health department. They should relocate you to another unit, at their expense. I know money is tight, and nobody wants a fight, but that may be what it takes - or get someone to fight for you. Perhaps you can contact Legal Aid for a referral for an attorney who would work pro bono. In any case, please don't let them get away with this! But take care of yourself and Erin!

Wow. I can't imagine an apartment complex of 50 buildings (x 6 apartments in each = 300 apartments).

(((Ford))) good to hear you're making progress on this, but not so good to hear it may be toxic stuff you're dealing with. When going thru a tough time I always remind myself "This too shall pass". Just take it day by day and it will all work out. So sorry you have to go thru this.
