Good news, Ford! And, also, you have saved this building's owners lots of $$$$ down the road. Problems like that only go from bad to worse later on. Enjoy unpacking with your daughters, and lots of good luck to you and even to the building's owners and managers.

Ford so happy for you and your daughter and the rest of your family they can now all pitch in get the boxes empty and you two can enjoy life at Grey Gardens. This should at least make you two feel more relaxed when this job is all done. Take care and hope fully in the next few days this nightmare will be all over. Take care.

Looks like practically the entire Maintenance Dept. will be over here on Wednesday doing the inside and outside work outlined in the remediation report. It will consist of a plumber, a construction contractor to do the inside work, and landscaping workers who will regrade all of the ground around the unit so that the waters will be directed away from the slab and out into the back areas. They will also take a sample of the drywall from behind the master bath tub and shower to make sure it is not contaminated and if it is, they will replace it.

The Manager of the Maintenance Dept. agreed with me that this outcome was fair, and that this is work that should be done. He said there will be no standing water anywhere under the slab or outside of the apartment once they are finished.

We anticipated their cooperation, so my daughters came and we did a lot of unpacking yesterday. Everything is looking good.

Again, thank you all for your support and encouragement. I really appreciated all of it. Smile

Ford, if they are going to be doing any kind of sheet rock work make sure they put plastic up over the doorways in the rooms they are working on. That dust goes everywhere and takes forever to clean up.

You probably don't have any 'old' towels, but if you live near a home improvement center, buy a large bag of white cotton shop towels, just to stuff underneath your bedroom doors. To keep any drywall dust out of the bedrooms. White 100% cotton shop towels are handy to have around the house, kitchen, etc., so you won't be 'wasting' any money. And they last forever, it seems. ........... p.s. Just thought I'd throw this into the mix, Ford. Smile

I think they are going to test a piece right behind the top of the shower. I doubt it will be a very big piece. If they then decide they have to take the wall out, then I will have to do some major protection as you have all suggested. I doubt that will happen, but we will see tomorrow.

Don't know if they are going to be able to do the outside landscaping work tomorrow. It's supposed to rain all day. But they have been wrong more than they have been right lately. So we'll see.

Great ideas, thanks so much!!
