Re: The end of AM radio in cars?

@stevieb   You are correct about no more sedans being manufactured. We find that so irritating, not everyone wants a truck or a SUV.

My husband wanted a new car, Ford Fusion...probably his last car.  It took a while but I found a decent used car on line with 15,000 miles on it.  The car was in good shape so he bought it.

We live in a rural area and even tho there were  other cars that he liked no one in our area has the dealership, (only the Big 3 in the area) we would have to travel over an hour for repairs, we had no desire any longer to do that.  I have done that in the past but no longer interested in making that drive. It was fun at the time, I would be taken to the mall, shop have lunch, just enjoy the day out.

I think it is sad what is happening to the auto industry...changes I don't like but no one asked my opinion!

And then it will be required that all auto manufacturers will be making only $65,000+ Electric Cars. Wonder if they will have an AM radio in them!   =^..^=

Re: The end of AM radio in cars?

@hckynutjohn   I am against electric cars, very harmful to the environment, to expensive and I am totally against a tax advantage for those that can afford to buy them.

I can't wait to see fights at recharging stations, there are not nearly enough right now.  Slave labor is used to mine the minerals for the batteries.

I will drive my current car until the wheels drop off if I have to...

Wow!  Haven't thought of AM in years.  Do remember road trips and changing a channel.  In college I lived with someone who liked nighttime baseball, which can from a far city.  Used to go to sleep to the sound of the announcer.  Very soothing.

@Mom2Dogs  It really stinks, doesn't it. I was sort of thinking that if my current car, rarely driven, isn't my last car, I'd like to consider a domestic brand in either what were once consided 'luxury' or sports models. Frankly, there are very few that remain and none that are both affordable and of interest to me. I guess if I ever trade in, it'll be another car from a foreign brand and not that I mind that, my last several cars have been foreign brands, but there's just something wrong with not having options. And no, I have no interest in electric cars. Speaking of options, I plan to exercise mine every November to better ensure I have the option of NOT being forced into a car one must plug in.

@4kitties    I had a Mazda with a CD player.  In 2019 I traded it in ...my Honda does not have one and I miss that the most.  I would rather have that than some of the other gadgets that I rarely use in my Honda.

My Forester has a CD player.  It is essential to me!🤣

I have never listened to XM so I do not have a clue what that is, but if it costs money I do not do it.  FM is my preference and I do like AM for listening to my Dallas Cowboy games if I cannot see them televised.

Also Sean's talk show is on each afternoon on my local AM station.
