Re: The different ways that words are pronounced

Pianomama--

I understand!  My Southern husband (who I believe has said "nekkid" from time to time) has become more of a Yankee-talker while I've become more of a Southern-talker over the years.  He still has his accent, but he is the son of two long-deceased Southern-born college professors who had advanced educational  degrees and brought that environment home to their kids when it came to doing well and getting more than one diploma  in school, not to mention writing and speaking correct English.

I know proper English, but think that  everyday slang used by many people in all regions (including me)  really isn't much different than trying to mimic another region's accent or vernacular.  You go with the flow and pronounce nekkid any way you think will work where you live, girl!
