The interesting and very moving story of Juan Romero, the busboy who cradled RFK as he lay on the floor dying.

What a moving story. My heart breaks for him that he struggled with the memories for so long and he was so innocent and young at the time of the shooting. Life changes in a second.
Did the Kennedys ever reach out to him after seeing that photo?

@colliegirls I don't know colliegirls. It would make an interesting follow up to the story.

I would hope that the family thanked him later.
I realize tho that at the time everyone there would be in shock wondering how this could happen? And was he ok??etc.

This photo brought back a memory for me. Years ago an exhibit of iconic American photographs (the originals) were on display at one of our museums. I saw the original of this photo, along with the one of JFK Jr. saluting his father at the funeral and the similarly tragic photo to this one of that young woman student crouching over the student shot to death at Kent State U. in Ohio in 1970 when the Ntional Guard shot the students, as well as many other iconic photos. The exhibit was muc h larger (more photos) than I expected when I entered it. Those photos are all burned into my memory.
I will never forget when RFK was shot. When I went to sleep that night he was still alive but clinging to life (or so the public was told). When my mother came into my bedroom the next morning to wake me up to go to school, she woke me up that morning saying, "he died." I'll never forget that.....

I'm glad he made peace with it, obviously he struggled with PTSD for all those years but no one would have thought about it back then. He was a kid and relived the event in his mind over and over again throughout the decades. Obviously, that woman and her family were "sent" to help him move on with his life.
