Oh my. I had a bunch of trick or treaters and enjoyed everyone of them! I'm always amazed at how polite they all are. All said "thank you", and most wished me a "Happy Halloween". I hope the practice never ends here. I really get a kick out of the excitement with the kids and love seeing the costumes.

There was another thread here regarding trick or treating. Those that pass out the candy and those (like me) that no longer will do so due to the OP's post and warnings by the police. I also agree with post No. 3, the children and parent are fat enough and look like they've been eating candy all year long. Also, my lawn and parkway is littered with the wrappers that they toss. As soon as they get the candy, they gobble it and toss the papers all around. Now where are the environmentalists and the nature lovers to comment on that litter and behavior?
Maybe you should move. Kids where I live were very respectful and certainly didn't scatter anything. And as far as your crack about kids being fat.....just goes to show that adults teach their children to rag on people who are different.
Have a nice day. Sounds like you need one.

We had at least 100 kids. Most of them came in large groups. Quite a few younger children accompanied by their parents. I don't remember any of them not saying thank you. It was a wonderful day and I hope the tradition never dies..

What's with the cracks about kids and their weight. That's just mean.

Heard lots of screaming and laughter too. We didn't participate again this year. The kids (and their parents) are fat enough and look like they've been eating candy all year long.
Wow - beyond rude. You may be thinner but they are no doubt nicer people.

I am actually having a nice day most every day. Just stating the obvious and agreeing with another poster. Move? Maybe the children should go to their neighborhoods to do their trashing and not visit mine. Don't you watch the media? They are always warning the parents about the obesity of the children in America - start with telling them how they rag on about it first. Lots of work for you to do. Also the medical community.

First and foremost children do not become obese from ONE DAY of indulging in sweets.
Your post smacks of bias and however you think you are veiling it, it is crystal clear.

Where we lived in Pittsburgh the kids were only allowed on a few certain streets where the police and fireman were present the whole time from 6 to 8 PM then the police would ride around and say everyone off the streets and there is a after trick or treat party at the firehall. Our street was one of the ones where trick or treat was allowed and we got hundreds of kids. I would usually buy about 500 pieces of candy and it would be gone in 2 hours - sometimes less. We would have our camper parked in the driveway and my DH would open it up and we would play Halloween music on the stereo and even dress up our dog in a funny hat or her Steelers sweatshirt if it was cool.We enjoyed it as much as the kids.
