Re: The Weekly Idol Thread (easily confused with crickets....)

I think the singers are sooooo much better on The Voice hands down. DH kept switching back and forth between the two shows last night and when Idol was on Zzzzzzzzz, then he'd switch back to the Voice and YAYYYY!

I like the judges just the same on both shows.

And more times than not, the Idol judges last night were telling the singers they didn't give a very good performance.

I was surprised to not see a Voice thread up (ever?). I just started really paying attention to the Voice this season. Was sorry to see some let go last night....really surprised. Wonder why the Voice contestants don't move on to bigger careers, they ought to.

True Idol has had some big winners and some duds (that would be Fantasia for me).

Re: The Weekly Idol Thread (easily confused with crickets....)

I'm just glad Quentin is still in the mix because I think he's one of the best of those left. I also like Joey a lot. At least these 2 are different. You don't forget them and they do have a different kind of sound which I would listen to. Nick sounds like a dozen guys I've seen at the local bar and though Clark is much better, he doesn't stand out to me except maybe for his looks. I'm still an AI fan because I'm just a music fan. Watched The Voice a few times but I just can't get into it. Something about The Voice just doesn't make me want to put it on again next week to see who stays/goes, etc. It doesn't capture my imagination at all. It all seems to be about Blake and Adam. You hardly notice the other judges. Anyway, what do you all think about the "fan save" on Idol? I'm wondering whether the "bottom 2" are actually the bottom 2? And why should those 2 have another chance to stay? If Rayvon or Quaasim actually got the lowest amount of votes, why should that person get another chance? It's a mystery to me. I'm thinking they need to get rid of that.

I didn't understand the fan save either but maybe it's so everyone gets to sing because the week before they started it the bottom person didn't get to. This creates a reason for them to give it their all and it fills up time with the performances. Yes it's kind of odd and I really don't like that the West Coast doesn't get to vote but otherwise think it improves the show and they're desperately trying to improve their ratings. What I don't really like is that the performers may not be able to do their best with the way they keep them in suspense right upto the moment they have to perform with all the stress building up.

I agree about the Voice that I'm not compelled to watch either. I like that they get coached by the pros but prefer the simpler approach on Idol where there's no extraneous drama about choosing coaches, steals, battle rounds, etc. Too much going on there. They get some better performers with no age limit though.

I like the Voice too but I think too much time is devoted to the judges. Way too much ""judge talking"" time during the actual competition.
