I will continue to watch the show trying to see if this is supposedly justified in anyone's eyes, but I was surprised the mother was nursing the kid several times during the course of the event. He surely is not 3 years old and I wonder if he is developmentally challenged.

Hector is playing with fire no matter what he said being or touching the babysitter...you can bet that will have consequences!

The show is not the best but 100% better than some of the newer shows that should sink to the bottom immediately!!

Thanks for all the replies. I didn't watch it, either but as I said earlier I know it's about relationships after the slap.

I also didn't know that there will be no conclusion as to what happened to the adult.

It's easy to say one might just report it and talk to your child about misbehaving, but honestly as a mom and a grandmom I can't imagine just walking away from a person who hit my child/grandchild.

Who slaps a kid -- whether it is your own or not?

Lawsuit. Simple. Easy.

Donna, this isn't a documentary, it's a scripted made for TV show. Totally made up for entertainment purposes. I get a little exasperated sometimes over the endless entreaties concerning TV, as tho the shows were real life. It's just TV!

Not interested in getting into another series right now.

And it is never ok to put your hands on someone else's kid this way. The only way it is appropriate to put your hands on another person's kid is to either hug them, or if necessary to separate and restrain a kid who is out of control, hurting someone else or themselves, till they can calm down.

I understand it is a series. I just am speaking to the premise of the story.

Suzy Snowflake, can you tell me what was the relationship of "the Kid"'s parents to the hosts of the party? I couldn't figure out if they were related or just friends.

I sorta watched it (was on the phone when the ""slap"" occurred). I don't know if this story interests me or not. I may give it one more try . . . but I think not worth missing ""Gray's Anatomy"" for.

I just watched it online.(and probably will continue to watch online as I still watch Grey's Anatomy)

You cannot hit someone's child; many think you should not hit your own child. If there are extenuating circumstances, as in this case thinking your child is in danger, is it ever okay? Had this been an adult swinging the bat at the child, most would be praising the father.

It was an interesting group of people. Alcohol played a part in the reactions. Also, it was mentioned the cousin was a hot head.

Good acting. It held my interest 99.9% of the time. It touched on several areas of human behavior that will play out according to the choices made. I liked that it shows the strong individuality of very different people all in one messy life-like drama. I'll definitely keep watching.

thoroughly enjoyed this show - I am always interested in character studies and this seems to have many to absorb. I think the parents of the child must be friends of Hector?? The father was arguing throughout the evening with the guy who slapped his child before it happened and it's an interesting mix of old world European ideas of child raising with the permissiveness of the artist parents. The child was freaking out swinging the bat wildly toward the other kids so someone needed to intervene and unfortunately the wrong person did. Why did the guy with the camera apologize. I think he was probably supposed to be supervising the kids' game. The slapper's wife was extremely apologetic so wonder what their relationship is?? the central character is viewed as a genuinely good person yet is fighting his temptation for the young babysitter and I agree that will become a big mess for him when the photos of them ""chatting"" in a dark corner emerge.
