Re: The Royal Family...Are You A Fan?

[ Edited ]

@AZfem There is a huge difference between complaining to friends about one's family and going on TV to publicly make false claims against a family and a national institution. The purpose was to destroy the Monarchy. It was calculated and it was done for money and publicity.

Diana tried to do the same thing when she wrote her book "Diana:  Her True Story" through Andrew Morton.  The RF wanted her to publicly denounce the book but she refused.  I guess Harry wanted to pick up where his mother left off.

Yes, what I am a fan of is the example the monarchy sets for the rest of the world.

They portray leaders who believe in hard work and staying true to their country.

They are not "soft"...they do not "rest on their laurels"!

I like thst they teach their children to value their country and their values.
Thst's what I find to be admirable!

@LTT1

I see your point, but I don't think they set a good example ... for anything.

They are accidents of birth and didn't have to qualify or earn those positions by being elected.  They were handed those positions (and enormous wealth) simply by being born into that dysfunctional family.

In many cases, the royals are wealthy but useless people.

JMO, of course.

@Tinkrbl44  Quite frankly...I have never known one family without dysfunction somewhere in it. The Royals are just as human as anyone else. No better...No worse.

Personally, I think it is interesting to see how other countries work. Many of my ancestors came from England and Northwestern Europe so that's another reason I am probably interested.

I mean NO, I'm not a fan of that whole monarchy system.  Where you worship and monetarily support people because they were born into a family that is deemed better and more special than the other citizens.

But I do like Kate and Willaim and their kids.

@Northray Welcome!🥰 I like them also!👍😊

This family is one I do take notice of because they are evil. They don't hide it but many don't realize what is right in front of them.

Couldn't have said it any better.  People will be shocked.

@Beguile ; @willdob3 :  Evil?  Please help me understand that strong statement.

@Hoovermom Welcome!🥰 I was a bit perplexed by that statement as well!😁

I liked Queen Elizabeth and Diana.  I remember her wedding and thought it was beautiful.   I also like William and Kate and enjoy watching their children.  I do pray and hope Kate makes a full recovery.

Re: The Royal Family...Are You A Fan?

@occasionalrain

You may believe they were trying to destroy the monarchy but I do not whatsoever. I think it was someone griping about personal grievances with their family.

If they were trying to destroy the monarchy it makes no difference to me or my life in America. Its up to the British people & the real government of Britain to keep or be rid of the monarchy & just because Harry says some things doesn't seem he'd single handedly topple it without the British public's consent.

You know there are anti monarcists in Britain who also say negative things about the monarchy & criticize it. Everyone doesn't approve of it & all are free to express their opinions.

You seem to take it personally as if you are part of the monarchy. How does it affect you one way or another?
