I am not really a fan of Royalty per se.  I think it is a bit absurd that one is born into a royal family, with all the money and trappings that come with it.

That being said, I loved seeing photos of Diana because she was so beautiful and her outfits were amazing.  Now I like seeing photos of Kate and what she wears and how her hair is styled.  She is so beautiful.  Their children are adorable and I like seeing photos of them as well.

But, way more important than what they look like is my hope that they can all have happy and productive lives.

I think if Harry had stayed there and not come under MM's spell, he would have found his way and been happy within the royal family.

It was commented a few times years ago that Harry wanted out of the family business long before he ever met Meghan.  I'm not surprised.  Times have changed and the hypocrisy amongst the royals is even more obvious than ever before.

Think about the comparisons ... H&M are "outcasts" because they criticized the royals, but the adulterers and the randy pedo are still tolerated.  Makes no sense.

BTW, H&M left the family business, not the family.  I'm not sure why that still confuses some people.

JMO, of course.

@Tinkrbl44 That may be true that he wanted out of the family business.  But the fact that they moved so far away and caused all the hurt by their words, kind of pushed them out of the family as well.  Every family has problems and squables.  H and M aired them to the public.  Not cool.

Harry could have gotten out the business, stayed in the country, and still have a good relationship with his entire family.

I understand your points, but this doesn't take into consideration all the racist attacks on Meghan, the death threats and the royals' lack of support.

If your family was receiving death threats on a daily basis, wouldn't YOU stop everything you were doing and do whatever was needed to make them safe.

Perhaps you wouldn't, but I sure would.

Sometimes it seems like the royals think the whole world revolves around them.  It doesn't.

How would the RF protect Megan from getting death threats.  You don't think that other royal family members get death threats.  As you can see even the most diligent protection for public figures cannot prevent people from getting hurt.  I also don't understand how you know that the RF had a lack of support for them.  People are only getting one biased side of the story.

OF COURSE the royals can't control the whack-jobs out there, but they can increase security where needed.

As for one biased side of the story, there've been comments made by retired detectives who reviewed what H&M were dealing with.  These people have seen everything and were shocked, so from that I take it was pretty bad.  These weren't people who had ever worked for H&M, so the "biased" arguement doesn't work.

So you think that since moving to California Megan miraculously isn't getting any more death threats or experiencing racism?

No one got more death threats, more personal attacks than Queen Camila.

King Charles had an assination attempt. You might wish to watch the recording of it. Princess Anne had a kidnapping attempt.

H&M has had staged car chases.

Re: The Royal Family...Are You A Fan?

Since my heritage goes back to England and Scotland, the UK will always be my ancestral homeland. My first trip to England was during the Charles and Diana wedding. She brought an exciting modern feel to the monarchy. At 19 we watched her mature into the woman she became, though her life was far too short.  However, I think the monarchy has bright times, dark times, stodgy outlooks, embarrassments, etc. Same as you would probably find in the hierarchies of any country. Charles and Camilla are not my favorites. Diana was treated as a brood mare at best by Charles. The Queen was a tribute to her monarchy, and a long one it was. Both Elizabeths were  marvels. I spent a total of 3 1/2 months in the UK during the Diana years. The tragedy of her death affected me more than I ever imagined it would. Diana nearly expatriated to the United States after she and Charles divorced, which is why I think she would be fine with Harry doing that now. He is living his own life now without barriers. Harry was always my favorite son of Diana, and he still is. Wills and Kate are a beautiful couple with darling children. They have a lot ahead of them if they take the throne. All in all, I like the royals, even if I don't always agree with some of the things they do. As an American I suppose I am drawn to them because we do not have the tradition of royalty in the U.S. We are intrigued by the pagentry and oppulence.

As the economy in the UK tanks, I question the need for taxpaying commoners to support them in their lifestyle.

The UK has a system of social security for those who were considered poor. They have now introduced a level below poor. It's called destitute.

Many people feel that way, but so far the public did not want the monarchy abolished. In addition, the royals and their attraction bring in millions each year from tourism who come there to see that. That goes directly to the British economy.

Re: The Royal Family...Are You A Fan?

It boggles my mind that anyone would care so much about the royal family  , that they would risk their own life and freedom to make death threats upon them, no matter what their motivation.  That goes for well known people in all countries.  You don't like a person for whatever reason, so what? Leave them alone and live your own life.  Maybe these people have lives that they figure are not worth living.  If so, that is really sad.

Re: The Royal Family...Are You A Fan?

Each country is 'different'.

The Prince and Princess of Monaco were very much loved and appreciated.

'All in all', sometimes it takes a King and Queen to more or less 'unify' a country.  As long as they are good people who believe in civility, etc.

I don't know if any polls have been taken in the UK, but I have a feeling that most or many of the people there appreciate Kings and Queens, Prince and Princesses, etc.

I don't know how they might feel about all of the rest of royalty, but a good Prince and Princess might be a good thing in a country.

When I say these words, I think about JFK and Jackie Kennedy.  Many people loved this couple, as I recall.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
