I wonder what the Queen carries in her purse...

Re: The Queen and her fashion

I think you can actually youtube that.

I forget exactly. She doesn't carry money--except an ironed note for the church collection on Sunday.

I think it's hose, a particular shade of Clarins' lipstick and a handkerchief. From Glanour web site

small mirror, lipstick, mints, reading glasses, a pen, and, on Sundays, a crisply ironed £5 or £10 note (never more) for the church collection plate.

She has underlings to carry all other other stuff.

She also uses her purse as a signal ,to let people know  she wants something

I can't recall  if it was she wants to leave ,or the interview to end

I also think it gives her something to do with her hands. I have often read ,people feel like they don't quite know what to do with their hands, when they are in the lime light. I am sure by now she has all of this stuff figured out

I can only hope that I look as good as she does when I get to be 92 years old.    (I know that it will not happen.)    I think she and Prince Phillip make a handsome couple, and kind of cute too...

@JavaQueen  Ah!  That's what I want!  Underlings!  Not a maid, but underlings.  They can get the mail and deal with it, answer the phone, go to the cleaners, grocery shop, decide what I should wear, charge all my electronic devices, make sure I have my keys, answer the door, etc.  Underlings!  Now that's the life.

Phillip is just amazing for 97. When he was young he was considered quite handsome. He has always been trim, and very athletic

Re: The Queen and her fashion

Oh, she knows exactly what she wants to do.

If you talk to long to her (haha, as if it that will ever happen to me.), she shifts the bag ot other arm to signal to one of her ladies-in-waiting to rescue her with some excuse. I think when she sets it on the floor. She's done. It's on to the next thing.

I read all this stuff after watching The Crown. She is a fascinating subject.

I hope she lives as long as her Mum. The Queen Mother lived to be 101.

I didn't like that glow in the dark glowstick green-but she can wear any color well and doesn't give a flying fig what I think.

Re: The Queen and her fashion

If you watched the series, The Crown, on Netflix or Amazon (?) you will notice she carries a handbag even though she's at home in any of the palaces.  What is interesting is not what is in the purse, but what she does wirh it.  It's a signal to staff to do something!  If a private meeting has gone on too long, she'll move the bag to a certain position and the staff enters to escort the visitor out.

BTW, the contents are what most women have in their bags, mints, tissues, etc.,  nothing exciting.

Re: The Queen and her fashion

I read that if she switches her purse arm, she wants to end the conversation.

Purse on the table? Dinner is over within 5 minutes!

Purse on the floor? Get me out of here!

i think it’s a great system, kinda like getting hubby to leave at a party using a code word.

I think she looked great for 92, her skin still looks very plump and soft.
