Re: The Q now has Personal Face Masks!!!

I had ordered 100 masks from Walmart for $89 with free shipping. After I got them & shared them with family & friends I decided I wanted 100 more .By then they were sold out.

I went online & found them on a medical website.  I ordered a bundle of 100 for $40.00.QVC isn't offering it's customers any bargains.

@patbz , I have washed a couple of my paper ones, handling gently in warm soapy water, rinsing well, air drying.  Came out great.

We just received a dozen cloth masks from etsy and we have several paper masks as backup (I spray them heavily with alcohol after use so get approx 4 wearing from each).  Personally, I think we will be wearing these until they develop a vaccine, so I'm planning accordingly for my family.

@patbz...thank you for posting this.  So, you are spraying yours with alcohol and getting about 4 uses out of them?  That's great to know.  Stay safe.  I am praying for a vaccine also.

How is it the pre-virus days, Walmart sold a box of their Equate brand of 20 masks for  $2.97 (not sure how to post a screen shot)?

Just shameful for what these masks go for now.

Yesterday I got a mailing (looking for donations) from the Smilow Cancer Center @ Yale New Haven Hospital. Included was a flyer about this virus in re to precautions to take. Included it said this about masks which surprised me. It's as follows:

Face masks are not recommended for healthy people to avoid respiratory viruses, including COVID-19.

Face masks are not likely to prevent transmission of coronavirus when used in routine settings and may contribute to increased transmission due to readjustment, ill fit and increased face touching.

Face masks are recommended for those that are sick, coughing or have a fever when visiting a hospital or doctor's office.

@shaggygirl,  that sounds like the original position on wearing face masks.  Considering lead time to print, process and mail the letter I'd chalk that advice up to time lag.  Recommendations change rapidly as more information becomes available and circumstances change.
