UPS lost a package sent to them from Costco.  I was charged on Nov. 26 and still I was not able to track it today!  When Costco sent me an email and asked me to review the item, I called Costco and they called UPS.  The package was lost. Costco sent another order out today.

The USPS is indeed the worst.  Sometimes Amazon hands off to USPS even when it originates with UPS and it irritates me to no end.  Like you, my postal carrier has crammed a package into my box along with all of the mid-week mailers and i have literally had to go back to my house and get a knife to cut my package out of the box.   But it is the post office.  You can complain until the cows come home and I assure you they won't do a thing about it, and I don't see it getting better anytime soon.

Amazon does not use UPS as much as they once did - they have there own planes and delivery trucks now.

@debfau

i forgot about their breakup so to speak.

can't wait to find out what company ups is going to blame this year for their late deliveries. <smile>

I saw that story.  Amazon did say that the snow storms in various parts of the country last week contributed to the delivery problems.  I'm not concerned, I got all my packages on my designated delivery day.  And QVC seems to have resolved it's shipping problems, for the past month my friends and I have received our QVC packages in a timely manner.  The fact is that if you absolutely, postively must have something on a specific date or if you are one of those shoppers who likes walking out of store with your packages in your hands;  online shopping is not for you.  For me, online shopping is the only way to go now because I love choices.  I can't go back to being limited to what is on the racks of some store.  When I shop online, I can have anything I want at a price I want to pay.  And it comes to my door.

at least amazon responded. other companies should follow their lead on that.

and to think, some of their customers were beyond annoyed because their orders didn't arrive in 2 days. can you imagine what amazon customers would have tweeted if their packages took a minimum of 2 weeks?

guess all it takes is a few tweets to the news media to get shipping problems on the news. hmmmm

i don't think that ups under estimates anything. they know how many people they need, then hire less than that number. plus, they have too much customized software that does this kind of thinkigg for them.

like every other company that planned on doing business this holiday season, they ALL knew that there were fewer shopping days and thus fewer shipping days. but instead of ramping up, they cut back.

in the past, starting the day after thanksgiving, there were always 2 people on the ups trucks that came to my house. i received a ups package the other day, 1 guy on the truck and it was after 9pm.

what i don't understand is why company executives and their spokespeople are ACTING like this is the FIRST time in HISTORY that there are fewer shopping days! they didn't have a plan the last time and they don't seem to have one this time either.

they are trying to save money.

as for the post office deliveries - they keep saying that they are losing money. how is that possible when more and more packages come their way every year, since the whole ups to post office thing came to be. seems more like they are mis-managing the money that they do make.

at the rate they are going, when amazon really beefs up their own delivery system, i would not be surprised if
1 - they get space at the major airports in this country
2 - they started offering to deliver other companies packages, instead of having to go through the post office.
3 - they buy the post office or start their own

i suspect that the best we shoppers can do, is to really start ordering xmas gifts in july and try really hard to at least have ordered the bulk of gifts before thanksgiving.

shopping online is only going to grow, year by year. last i heard, on black friday, almost $10 billion was spent online, in this country. that's a whole lotta packages.

@Darlingdino  Thank you for your post. It's a good reminder that the stresses of delivery are not endured by some faceless machine, but our brothers and sisters out there. Most of us need our jobs, and often have to carry on through trying times. Even so I won't pretend that my daily job is as physically challenging/exhausting as what your husband is going through. I hope he gets through it safely and is eventually able to get some rest!

Also hope you two are still able to have a wonderful holiday season! Smiley Happy

I must live in a good delivery area for Amazon Prime members. I don't have a problem with their deliveries.  In all the years we have shopped with Amazon once, just once we had a delayed shipment.  Not a problem.  Amazon still out performs QVC on its worst day.

I think it depends where you live.  I've recently relocated and am getting my amazon deliveries faster than ever.  They are delivered by Amazon's own delivery drivers in marked vans, or in private vehicles with amazon stickers on them.  Some of the private vehicles also have Uber labels on them.  Multitaskers!

I agree!  We get Amazon packages multiple times a week and they are always delivered by their own drivers and on time.

I've been getting stuff from Amazon before it's supposed to be here. I was expecting a delivery yesterday (Friday) and it arrived on Thursday.

Re: The Q is Not Alone

[ Edited ]

I still get deliveries from Amazon within a day.  Everything I order, It gets to me quickly.  Especially with the Amazon logo on the car or truck.  the one I item I got (shipped from the U.K. I received with in 4 days.  Yes, items still sit asleep at QVC, but Amazon still works magic.   As for FedEx....the less I see it, the better.  Their shipment problems are an embarrassment to the industry.

Part of the reason about nationwide shipping (apart from Amazon if think about it) is more and more people buy online and need their packages quickly.  Fast shipping was the primary thinking when Amazon was developed.  And for the most part, they delivered.  The rest of country companies are realizing you can't just depend on UPS or FedExc.
