I live in the poultry state that the Purdue family governs and the local grocery store is advertising a dozen free range for $3.98. We'll see if they are there when I go later tonight or if the hens are having a happy hour with their mimosas and LV bags.

Has anyone checked Aldi lately? They usually have good prices.

The "cheap" ones at Aldi are $4.99/dozen or close to it (NJ).  Seems a bit excessive for those eggs that were less than $1.00 and still fully stocked.

A dozen Jumbo white eggs were $4.49 at my nearby Trader Joe's yesterday. Not bad, considering some of the prices I'm reading here.

@VanSleepy- I'm in So Cal. and eggs at Aldi were over $6.00/dozen last week.  Yesterday my hubby went to Costco and found eggs (24 pack) for almost $7.00.  Not a bad deal considering some of our local stores are that for 1 dozen.  When will they come down?

Am I the only one who doesn't buy eggs?  Not because of the high price, but because I just don't eat them.

I bought 6 before Christmas. Used 2 for a casserole for Christmas Day and gave the other 4 eggs away.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

W. PA here.....went to Aldi yesterday....large eggs 4.50/dozen.

I also bought two Black Angus RIb Eyes, Choice grade, vacuum wrapped in the same way as what we see on QVC....11.99 per pound.

Will last in freezer for a year.

They ran 1.25 pounds in size, and were beautiful. Thinking of going back for two more.

I cut them in three pieces for three meals, and eat them with real  wilted baby spinach and a handful of real brown mushrooms...all from Aldi. Umm Umm GOOD!!!!!

11.99 per pound. ( NOT 30.00 a pound like a favorite shopping channel. But of course they weren't magical cattle that only have one ribeye per animal!!!)

Re: The Price of Eggs

[ Edited ]

At Shop Rite in SE PA today, I purchased 2 one dozen cartons of Bowl and Basket Cage Free Large Brown eggs for $2.99 per dozen. ( shaking my head as they want $4.99 per dozen for Bowl and Basket regular large white eggs). A carton of 24  large Eggland's Best white eggs was $6.99, which is a good price too. It was also Senior discount day. I feel like I won the lottery!😂

I'm admittedy ignorant abt this.

Is there any reason, or preference betw eating "brown shelled eggs" vs "white shelled eggs?"
