still the cheapest protein around.

Eggs are not a great source of protein and not a cheap source either. Soy is a complete protein and is possibly the cheapest.

I hope the avian flu soon dies out and disappears. Then the egg producers can get their flocks back to normal size. Egg prices should fall once the large producers are back in the supply chain.

I agree that eggs are one of the cheapest forms of protein, even at these prices.

Why do you say that.? Eggs are a complete protein and one of the healthiest food items around.

One large egg, about 55 grams, contains about 6 grams of protein plus bad fats. The protein is complete and dense but there are other 55 gram food items which will give you more complete protein per gram. Lean chicken, fish and soy (tofu).

Eggs, yes.

Soy, no, if for no other reason than it rips up my gut like crazy.

I’m used to paying at least $7 for eggs for years. I only buy organic pasture raised.

A lot of people try to stay away from soy products and generally meat products are more expensive than eggs.

On my last grocery run, Costco and Trader Joes were completely sold out.  I ended up to find them at Safeway for $6.99 for 18 eggs.

Good thing I don't rely on eggs so much like I used to.  I like them hard balled once in a while, but I eat them rarely now.  Since I've been watching my cholesterol.  Two large egss w/ yolk has over a day's worth of cholesterol.

@gertrudecloset

I only eat two eggs a week, hard-boiled. Not my most favorite protein but I eat them for the other nutrients they provide.
