Re: The Oscars Mixup and Cell Phones/Social Media

I am so amazed at the need to text, tweet, facebook etc. everything that people do in their lives.  So much is lost in the "now experience" while we are looking to capture everything in a photo.  i am thankful i grew up before the obsession with the phone.   i carry a cell phone, which is never turned on unless i have a problem and need help.  i actually bought a charger for it because i forget to charge it.   i also won't pay a monthly bill so i bought the tracfone offered here, pay one price and i am done.   i also wish that adults would set a better example for their kids and teens, shut them dowm, enjoy your family time and preach to them about not texting and driving, they will listen and they will hear you.

Re: The Oscars Mixup and Cell Phones/Social Media

I am sorry about your friend @Sooner, that is terrible.

I do not know why cars do not come with an automatic jammer for phones while a car is in drive or reverse. This technology is already out there and used in bars in my area. You cannot text or make a call while in there. They use it over in Iraq and Afghanistan so they cannot use their cells to detonate bombs.

It would be fairly simple for car manufacturers to put this in cars and would require people to pull over and put the car in park to make a call or text. There are just so many accidents that are being attributed to talking on the phone and texting that something must be done. Despite video after video of terrible accidents happening while calling or texting people keep doing it. I have seen stats that show that calling and texting is even worse than drunk driving.
