I have a grandpup who is a shiba inu. I know the dog in the movie is not a Shiba, but it is suppose to be. My grandpup is the cutest , best dog ever, and boy is he loyal.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time.
But yes, it's heart-wrenching.

Sounds like a sweet and touching movie, but I could never watch it. I watch very few movies about animals because I can't bear to see them hurt or suffering, even if it is only a movie. And this one seems to have been based on fact.

I don't want to give away too much of the story, but just want to say that this isn't a movie where an animal suffers. It's more about the loyalty and love that Hachi shows toward the man who adopts him.

There is no way I could watch that movie. I read a reference to this in a book at one time so I know I couldn't stand to see it reenacted in a movie.
