Leave it to ABC! I haven't watched this in a while, but I was looking forward to seeing it back in Atlantic City. There were many things about the broadcast that bothered me.
We didn't learn much about the contestants - they didn't say their ages, what they hoped to do, etc. It was nice to see the former Miss Americas lined up on stage, but instead of showing them on camera and/or introducing them, the camera cut to that wonderful (?) banter between hosts Chris Harrison and Lara Spencer. Then when announcing the first eliminations down to 15, we went to a commercial after the first 13 were read?? This was live, so the remaining girls had to wait for the final two to be announced! That was ridiculous. ABC could have structured the commercial breaks better. The "eliminated" contestants had to stay on stage constantly and answer stupid questions from Lara when they probably wanted to go backstage for a while and gather their emotions. The question and answer period at the end felt rushed - actually the whole pageant felt rushed!
I was, however, happy with the winner, and I liked seeing the parents in the audience!
