I started getting Martha Stewart's Living magazine without subscribing, so I called their subscription department and asked why.  They told me it was a gift subscription from Macy's.  My nephew was getting married and I ordered quite a lot from their shower registry.

I think the new marketing ploy for magazines is to send them unrequested to people for a few months to try to get them to subscribe.  I get magazines all the time that I know I am not paying for.

I think you might be right.  I hadn't thought it was a marketing strategy but it makes sense.

I hate these free subscriptions, and they are not easy to cancel.  I've been trying to cancel VOGUE for about 6 months.  I get a an arts and crafts magazine that I have no idea how to get rid of.  I've written refused but my carrier said it gets thrown in the garbage and not returned.  I've spoken numerous times to the publisher but it keeps coming for almost a year.

I don't understand this.  How can you be getting all of these free magazine subscriptions and nobody is charging you?  I do get a lot of magazines for sure, but I never get any for free.  Oh, I take that back.  I think 1ce or 2ce in my life, I got an issue of something sent to me because the wanted me to see if I liked it.  That was it.  I wish they'd start sending me free subscriptions!  Of course, the way my luck is, I'd think I would be getting them free and then I'd get a huge credit card bill for like $9,000 or something!  Smiley Sad

HSN includes subscriptions with some TS items.  What happens is, if you do not cancel they renew the magazine and charge your credit card.

Other online sites do the same thing.  One subscription I have came from Wayfair.  Again, if you neglect to cancel after the free period, your credit card is charged.

Nope - no airline miles.

That makes sense - so they will continue coming for the next six months.

I have never been billed and won't be and I'd better not be.  I never ordered them in the first place and they just don't stop coming.  Sometimes they come with a renewal notice which I just don't renew anyway.

My daughter likes it when I give them to her for her massage office.

I don't buy from HSN and I haven't paid a penny for any magazine that comes to me that I didn't subscribe to.  And there are lots.

That's how it works for me too.  I lost count with how many different magazines get to me.  The only one I do like is Prevention.

This is 2 years, so after six months of living here, I suppose they will stop.  Good thing they don't know my credit card number as they cannot bill me.
