Re: The Liliacs are starting to come out!!

One year about 10 years ago my SO trimmed our lilac bush in the fall and after that it never bloomed for 7 years.  Now it blooms about 6 weeks after all the others around here bloom.  The only thing I can think of is that that was the wrong time to trim it.

We drove from Show Low to Phoenix today and everything in the desert was in bloom (especially the Sauguaro cacti ( best bloom season in more than twenty years!).

They are in full bloom in Santa Fe and are gorgeous.   I've never seen lilacs that are huge trees before.

What is a mock orange tree?

I love the scent of Jasmin.

That would be a beautiful name, btw.

I haven't actually smelled the scent of lilac.

I'll have to smell a scent of it at our local nursery.

I have some lilac bushes in my back yard.  When I open the windows in the kitchen, the smell drifts in.  It smells heavenly...

My lilac bush is in bloom right now.  I have a big vase of them in my living room.  Love the smell.

Mock Orange is a shrub, lovely smell. I also have 3 Miss Kim Lilacs, don't have a huge flower, but scents the whole yard.

I've been noticing that quite a few QVC fashion items, mostly tops, have been offered in Lilac (or sometimes  called 'Lavender', in a lighter tint/shade).
