Perhaps you would prefer we take the fascist approach like so many of today's politicians want. We all saw how fascism turned out with Hitler and WWII.

Of course, there is a middle ground between being completely lax and being completely totalitarian, but no one seems to want to embrace a more moderate point of view these days. Everything has become polarized and we all suffer because of it.
