The Insider -- What Do You Think

Can anyone tell me about the Insider? What is the cost, is it useful, and how do you subscribe?

Re: The Insider -- What Do You Think

I had read that they were not subscribing anymore. I tried it once when it was $36 a year and it wasn't bad. But one big problem was that people who got it would post the deals on this board, and others, then people who didn't pay for it were able to scoop up all the deals.

Meanwhile, those of us out in the West hadn't even gotten our issue yet and by the time we did the deals were no longer in stock. That was the reason I cancelled - they should code those item numbers for Insider members to purchase.

Last I knew, it had gone down to $12 a year but then I guess they stopped sending it out and there is some online access for those who are members. I could be wrong, though. Smiley Happy

They're not taking any new subscribers. I was just about to subscribe when I found out it was closed to new subscriptions.

Wonder why they are not accepting anyone new. You would think they would want to make money from subscribers.

Re: The Insider -- What Do You Think

i still get the hard copy in the mail. i dont get the link each month to access it online, but i have the site bookmarked so i can find it anyways.

i subscribed when it was $36 a year, but at that price it was not worth it. i cancelled it. when they dropped it to $12 a year i re-subscribed. for a dollar a month it was worth it to browse through and know some of the TSVs that were upcoming.

now that it is FREE i definitely dont mind getting it at all!

I thought so too. I never thought I'd see the day when a shopping channel turned away a customer's money.

Re: The Insider -- What Do You Think

I don't think they make any money on them, it's more a marketing thing that is paid partly through subscription and partly with advertising dollars. Probably, it's not getting enough of a return on investment to continue so they are phasing it out, as old subscribers drop their subscriptions they won't be replaced with new ones. In time it will no longer exist.

I think specials on the host blogs will replace the deals that had been part of the Insider.
