I am on the southern end of WV.  Some years back the superintendent of schools in a nearby county found herself in hot water for not letting school out early enough once the snow started.  The rural roads were snow covered and slick by the time school buses headed out and it was snowing heavily. 

Buses filled with students were in ditches all over the county, many bus drivers had to take students back to their school because they couldn't complete their runs, and buses with second runs never made it back from their first runs.  While the students were a major priority, every single school in the county had these problems, so it was after 10:30 that night before the last student was off the bus and with their parent!  There were some very angry parents who tried their best to get a new superintendent after that disaster!  She remained on the job, but closed school with the slightest bit of snow from then until she moved on.

@RedTop , Yikes!  That would be horrible! I can only imagine what happened at the next school board meeting....
