I've never seen Maude.  I didn't even know Bea Arthur was in it.  They should rerun more of those shows instead of just the same ones over and over.

Seriously... Decades now of television available, and we see endless reruns of the same four of five sitcoms, and most of them aren't even among the better ones.

I know.  I guess they do that because the ones always on are the most popular.

Unfortunately I think the world is too PC these days for Archie Bunker and Maude even in reruns.  I think Norman Lear was one of the funniest writers ever but I don't think his shows would ever see the light of day today as timely as they still are with the topics they touched on.

People with their "PC" complaints make me laugh. All in the Family is on in my area all the time.

@proudlyfromNJ@Laura14

So is Maude.

Many of Norman Lear's creations are still on MeTv and AntTV (Antenna TV)

@Cakers3  I didn't know that!  I don't think I have AntTV but I think I may have the MeTV channel.  Now I'll have to look for it when I get home tonight.

Funniest line in a scene ever:

Maude talking to her husband who is being an egotistical jerk declaring himself King of his Castle

"You know what, Walter, the last King in this country was Kong and they shot him off the top of the Empire State Building."   Smiley LOLSmiley LOLSmiley LOL

Maude had great lines.  They don't make shows like that anymore.  Thank goodness we have TV land, Me TV and Antenna.

@AKgirl2  Blanche was really my favorite overall.  I love Betty White but sometimes she was just too stupid to take.  I think Dorothy being more educated had less patience with her.  Not an excuse but she always seemed the most withdrawn in terms of not being happy in the beginning.

Maude did get on Walter - lol but after all she was a liberated woman who spoke her mind.  Wasn't that the premise of that show?  Oy.

You're right about Dorothy, and then there's Maude!

There's a woman I know that's a bit like Rose...I wait for the porch light to come on, at best it only flickers...but I don't let the Maude or Sophia in me come out!

Lady Godiva was a freedom rider,
she didn't care of the whole world looked.
Joan of Arc, with the lord to guide her,
she was a sister who really cooked.
Isadora was a first bra burner
Aint' ya glad she showed up?
And when the country was falling apart
Betsy Ross got it all sewed up
And then there's Maude

And then there's Maude
And then there's Maude
And then there's Maude
And then there's Maude
And then there's Maude
And then there's that uncompromisin' enterprisin' anything but traqulizin' Right on Maude!!!

Thanks, @momtochloe.  Unfortunately Comcast (at least in my area) doesn't offer Decades.  At least I have ME TV though.

Lucky you to have a Bob Newhart marathon!

Actually @Caligurll they are one of the digital, over the air channels available in the Chicagoland area (and also some cable systems but unfortunately not mine).

Here is the link to their site so you can take a look if they are available in your area:

@GATORGIRL - Thank you for the mini montage of Maude.  Brings back memories...I hope the show's intro song isn't stuck in my head all day!

LOVE the way Maude handled annoying salespeople who came calling, or repair people who overcharged .  She left them literally speechless !  She had great catch-phrases, too.
