@cherry, I only checked two sites: their idea was to wear it on your ring finger because you are announcing to the world what your intentions are-that makes sense. I will take your word for it because I never would have "gotten" it.  I even researched Lay Sisters of Mercy which seems to be associated with St. Patrick...I did not find any information there.

Is it "DEER'S Cry", as in the animal, or is it "DEAR's Cry", as in "yes, dear"?

It's the deer's cry ,because as St Patrick was praying, the Druids saw deer and not people, and their lives were saved

Religiouswear wedding bands on the finger that is culturally prevalent to signify they are wed to Christ or the Church (female).

@maestra  is right , nuns are known as Brides of Christ. Priests are considered wed to the Church

This is the all -encompassing prayer I love and use. I think it is fail-safe!

 

I love St. Patrick but I'm not Irish.
