Re: The Damage Has Been Done

I'm posting in both places. I was one of the earliest ShopTalk posters and I'd like to stay here but I'm wary. Despite the enigmatic message about keeping the bobards (for now) there was enough vague language to keep me in both places (for now). I had a challenging time registering on the new boards. I'm not about to give that up.

So this whole board fiasco appears to be over, or at least postponed.

However, it seems the damage has been done. How many longtime posters have left for the other site and won't be back? How many posters have left altogether? Like, we're all scattered now.

This whole thing was just weird, I'm sorry.

@Ladybug724   I didn't leave and I'm a long, long, long time poster.   I doubt many people left.  There's no way I would go to any other forum to see the QVC Community Forum  posts.  I don't even understand why a few posters would go to another site and try to set up an alternative QVC Community Forum site when this one is not closed, has not closed, and has never been closed.  That's what's weird to me.

@KatieB

I am on both sites, and I believe we have close to 1,000 people on the other site.

At least when I log out of the ProBoard forum, I'm actually logged out.

No matter how many times I sign out of here, the next time I open this up, I'm still logged in.  To me that's a security issue.

I did try to bring it to the attention of the moderators (to pass on to whomever is supposed to maintain these forums), but it had no effect.

@Venezia

I thought that was just happening to me.

I am not damaged by any of this.  It's working out quite well staying here.

I wasn't interested in going to a forum that is moderated by fellow posters.

I'm sure that most forums are moderated as mentioned above--and it's probably quite unique that QVC has their customer service reps doing the monitoring here.  But I was always comfortable with that.  It's what they were paid to do.

No damage done.  I decided if they closed these forums I wouldn't go to one of the new one talked about here.

I feel the most important aspect of a healthy board is good moderators performing good moderation. I'm not sure how a board will function when moderators are also active participants.

When I saw the call asking for moderators, I initially thought about throwing my hat in the ring. With my sleep issues, I could take the late night shift 😄. I am confident I could do a good job because to me adhering to guidelines,  honesty and fairness are paramount to a board's success.

And then I came to my senses.😄😄😄

I belong to three other boards on Proboards and all are moderated by members and honestly I have never seen iany  ssues. Everybody just gets along.

one of the boards I am on is the exact same scenario. Board was shutting down, members panicked, someone ran with the idea and set up a board etc, etc. it's been five years and pretty much all the same people are still on there happy as clams.

i am sure they would love some help in some capacity if you offered your services.

Some complained about having to sign in too often. Then there was a glitch and they complained about not been able to sign out. That was funny because it was the same people complaining.

For me it didn't matter whether I had to sign out or not.

Re: The Damage Has Been Done

The "damage" was the goodwill customers had for the company. Losing goodwill is a big deal. Even if they retain it with some people, corporations and shareholders aren't generally pleased. Goodwill=sales.

Can you please share with us who made the statement that the board will remain open until some time in 2022? I would like to hear more. Especially how she was singled out to receive a personal reply from the office of the CEO. She must be special.😄

Thanks in ad

@magicmoodz   It was deleted and I don't remember who it was.  They posted asking if others had received any or the same communication.   It was here early this morning.

@cotton4me

Thank you for letting me know!

That person has to be extra special to receive an email from the CEO's office. Why delete it? Pick sense out of nonsense according to my friend.

Someone else got the email as well. It is posted in its entirety on the q friends forum. It specifically says they are pausing the plan to migrate to FB and the forums will remain into  2022.
