The Commenting Period has Closed

Is this a new feature on the BB? I was writing a reply in the Ellen thread and a message came up that said that the commenting period has closed. {#emotions_dlg.ohmy} I've never run across this before. Does webbie arbitrarily close threads now instead of just deleting them? The Pancake thread has been going on for 2 years, so I know there's not a limit as to how many replies can be in a given topic.
