Well, I doubt I'll ever taste one, but I do like the sound.  As others have said, they remind me of those hot, hazy childhood days of summer.  Considering the cool, wet spring we've had here, it'll be awhile before I hear them!

They herald the start of the monsoon season here. July or August.  I like the sound too.

They have started here in SWPA.  Only have seen the shell of one around our house.  But I can hear them in the distance.

I read that there are 1.5 million of the little critters per acre.  That means I am surrounded by 6 million of them.  It sounds like it.  You go outside and it sounds like the noise you would hear in an aliens from outer space movie.
