It would have been nice if she would have at least warned him she was going to do it. But, maybe she did and he wasn't listening. You know how our husbands can be sometimes. In one ear and out the other.

My neighbor divorced his wife after 50 years of marriage. He's had about 10 years of freedom. I don't think we can advise other people to stay together for ""convenience.""

I just found this if true...how sad:
According to the divorce docs, obtained by TMZ, there's special mention about health insurance coverage, and that seems relevant, because in 2009 Toni blogged that Daryl had been diagnosed with Parkinson's. In 2011 Toni updated the message, saying Daryl's tremors were so bad he was embarrassed to go out in public ... to restaurants, the movies, etc.
Here's what's unclear -- whether it's possible Toni really filed for health insurance reasons ... whether his coverage might be better if they were divorced.
The blog has an update on Jan 16, 2014, saying "The Captain & Tennille appeared to the public as them being the ideal model for a 'rock-solid' married pair. But almost all people naturally evolve over time, & sometimes hidden feelings start to be uncovered ..."
It's a sad day for muskrats.

Makes me sad
I can't believe they won't still have contact, doesn't sound like it's antagonistic. They never any children either, right? Unless I am mistaken.

Maybe he will need to go into a home...and they don't have the funds to cover his treatment.
In NY, you can "abandon" a spouse and they will be eligible for Medicaid. No divorce necessary....not that I agree with that - but it is used by many wealthy people to preserve their money.

Saw that on main page when I signed in today.

He would be covered under Medicare and the two of them have done well over the years. I seriously doubt that insurance is the reason.

Medicare doesn't cover much re: nursing home care...only a certain # of days - not enough if he has a chronic condition.

It really could have something to do with it. I know a person who was advised that this was the way to go.....
I was so shocked to read they are in their 70's!! Whoa, do I feel old now!!

It is sad whatever the reason. I don't think it is very nice to bring up age. They were very talented and their music brought joy to many. I wish them well.
