I'm all air force, being a veteran of that branch, but I think the navy has the best flight demonstration team with the Blue Angels.  I've seen them many times, and it's always a thrill.

The Bay Area gets a week of the Blue Angels usually in October.  During WW2 SF and other parts of the Bay Area were home to very important Naval Shipyards.  We are proud to host the Blue Angels.

I happened to be working in the control tower one afternoon, a long time ago, at a now demolished drag racing strip. The control tower was probably  5 - 6 storeys high.

On that day the Blue Angels were practicing for a show. It felt like they were buzzing the top of the tower. Talk about "up close and personel" OMG - you can't imagine.

I still enjoy seeing them when they come to my area for a show but nothing can top that day watching them from the tower.

And @Noel7 - how great that there is now a woman Blue Angel!

I was at an outdoor concert once on Angel Island near San Francisco for a smooth jazz event, and most of the crowd was relaxing on blankets or lawn chairs.  We were lying on our backs just enjoying it all when all of a sudden the Blue Angels flew overhead.  I got a most unexpected feeling of pride.  I thought I'd burst.  It was truly unforgettable.

We have lived in S Florida for 20 years & Fleet Week is always in conjunction with the Air & Sea Show in May.  Well, the powers-that-be canceled the Blue Angels the past 3 years.  There has been such a pouring of outrage from all of us dedicated fans who have made this an annual family event.  Looks like they are coming this back this year!  They are the epitome of patriotism & my tears of pride never stop streaming when I see them performing.

we had them here for a weekend last year -- it was awesome.  I could sit on my deck and watch them.  When I was out running errands -- the flyovers were incredible.
