Some people/customers/consumers are easily gaslighted.

@millieshops wrote:@Sooner QVC has never been a main source of clothing for me. Image has nothing to do with my decision. I just know that as long as I can find a few items locally that actually fit both my body and my current life style, I will support local businesses or the workers in them.
I have enough wearable outfits for a long time. In the past I might have donated them and bought new for myself. Now I like figuring out new ways to pair the separates I have although I do keep a list of the specific items I could use. Absent those few items, I now come home from a shopping trip having spent nothing!
@millieshops Me too. I am not donating things I would have donated a year ago because they are good quality and I can wear them. I wear classic styles, and do not buy trendy clothes--never have. So I am being more careful with resources.

QVC was telling us why we need to buy something from the beginning. That's just how sales work. I do think their techniques are more "hard sell" than in the past.
The biggest changes I've seen in QVC over the years are the prices and host behaviors. Obviously, prices go up as expenses rise. I don't expect the prices to be the same as they were in the 90s. I'm not sure what the excuse is for the changes in host behavior. I guess they think a lot of stories and silliness sells.
I'm not sure what you're referring to regarding business and charities. Are you talking about certain businesses supporting certain charities? People can choose not to shop at certain stores if they don't care for their charitable connections. Some stores ask you to round up your purchase or make a donation at checkout. Sometimes I do that. I remember Walgreens was asking for donations for CA wildfire victims at checkout a while back.

@Sooner I'm sorry but I do not agree. I feel their selling objective has always been the same. It's their technique, speaking over each other, talking personal stories, lots of silliness, has definitely changed. Otherwise, them selling to what they perceive as a persons lifestyle may be, is accepted by me. I just have no issues with that selling tactic.
Not sure what you mean by who I donate to though. I haven't heard that reference by any host.

@Kachina624 wrote:@Sooner. I think your paranoia has kicked in, I don't see that at all. QVC has always suggested that we could wear a garment to a barbecue, hay ride, apple picking, or to the prom. We simply ignore and wear it as we wish. My lifestyle could use some oomph but I don't see it changing much. Things in our modern times are always evolving, for better or worse.
Stores support certain charities which I also ignore and donate instead to the ones I prefer. Don't tell me you feel obligated to give to one a store supports?
I know I will be buying less as prices rise because I don't support whats going on economically. Many businesses tettering on the brink will go over the edge into bankruptcy. Farmers will be hurt and may lose their farms or not be able to afford the equipment they need. Rough times ahead.
@Kachina624 Just saw this morning some state agency for mental health is running 4e (edit: @Kachina624--That should be $43 Million not "$4e Million) MILLION (in a poor state!) behind because they have been happily buying furniture and cars and spending money from next year's budget and adding highly paid administrative staff. Outrageous. Too much of this goes on. Charities that spend money on everything but the charity, and on and on.
My "paranoia" has suspected this for a long time. Turns out, wasn't paranoia after all! Something need to be done. So I am hopeful maybe more money not being used for good will help the world

Would you give more details, @Sooner? Which charity, which state? Have you verified those claims?

Some stores donate a percentage of sales to their chosen charities. Target is one of them.
Bomba donates socks, Sketches Bob donates shoes...

I really don't care what QVC does or doesn't do. Qvc is just one of the many places I shop. They are not in my head at all. I buy what I like and what I can afford and that's as far as it goes.

The way I see QVC:
I've been shopping here since about 2006 or so. I see QVC as a store with no doors or walls. They want to attract customers who will spend their money.
This was all new to me. I had never shopped online before. And I could actually WATCH someone modeling a sweater I liked! I still think they offer a lot of choices. I can buy what I need or want, or I can move on to the next choice.
At this stage of my life I want to have fun shopping. I don't mind advice, and I don't need to take it. They salespeople on QVC, i.e. hosts, can't SEE me, but they can talk about what they are selling. I appreciate it when they recommend places to wear an item, and I roll my eyes when they tell me to wear it while I'm sipping champagne on the Riviera! LOL!
So I'm not sure what the new changes will be, but as long as they sell what I'm interested in, I will shop here! ![]()

I think if you think QVC is trying to influence your life style then you watch too much. Try online shopping. I go way back to 1988 with QVCand there was a time where it would be embarrassing to tell anyone I got my clothes from the Q. Not a lot of people had cable then, or knew about it. And buying your clothes from TV had a stigma to it. Things changed. An hour ago my granddaughter who is into all the social media stuff just had me get her some shoes from QVC and that WEN bronzer. I guess now everyone is into social media ( not me I have no Facebook, instagram, twitter etc). With social media comes a new generation, so QVC IS hitting that. They are a for profit business.AND TRYING TO KEEP UP. My advice is stay off their Facebook page and such if it bothers you. Seems to start a lot of threads here by posters being upset my their Facebook. Lol
as far as donations. Most business tell you who they donate to. I do not do business myself with several companies because of things I find they do against the grain of my being. But, I just don't go there, support them in anyway. I do have 3 places I would not step foot in, my family knows it. They may go there cause they like the food or the low prices. That is there choice. I just told them don't ever get me anything from there, and we are fine. lol. It is the family joke.
but seriously, if something is against your morals,or what you believe. Then by all boycott it in your life and your heart. But others have choices too
