The announcement made me feel sad.  They have had such amazing, interesting lives and always seemed to be a team.  I hope it doesn't turn out to be a long, public divorce or aired dirty laundry (like the Royal Family).

@Another new name Sue I had that same thought, how they were handling this so much differently from the royal family breakup.  What a contrast between self-made people and those who inherit.  The Gates already have a separation agreement determining their division of assets that was filed with the divorce papers.  I am certain that took months to put together, with nary a word to the outside.

@Nyc Good to know.  I don't know why I feel bad about this.  I don't know them and they certainly don't know me.  I guess their marriage and the wonderful foundation seemed to be something that "worked," but I guess not.  The kids must be disappointed too.

He's 65 now, she's somewhat younger, but as we age even tho' we might be weary of each other (especially with all the "togetherness" of the last year), we need each other more.

I just had a snarky comment about fan girling but decided to give the mods a break. So I blank spaced it.

Re: The Best Decision Bill Gates Ever Made

Many people who have marriages that fail still feel that it was a good decision.  They have many happy memories, children etc.  As the Garth Brooks song goes

" Our lives are better left to chance, I could have missed the pain, but then I'd have to miss, The Dance"

Someday, when scientists discover the center of the Universe....some people will be disappointed it is not them.

@NYCLatinaMe   People fall out of love everyday.  Is it no wonder the divorce rate is the highest in the free world in America?  Most marriages will end in dovorce.  Those are the stats.

Better to be happy apart than to be miserable together.
