Re: The Best Decision Bill Gates Ever Made

I won't do it here, but there's some juicy fun in speculating the why which is why when it's a couple you know personally there are plenty of whispered speculations in the friends and family circle.  Let's not pretend you have to be some kind of a raving fan to speculate over the reasons behind a divorce whether the couple is distantly known through their celebrity, or they live in the home next door.

He said getting married not marrying Melinda. Big difference. Could be his three children that made getting married his best decision.

@mom2four0418 @Lucky Charm The WSJ is a business magazine, not a relationship advice column.  That is what made Bill's response so poignant.

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.

@occasionalrain Bill has said a lot of great things about Melinda, about how she challenges him and made him better, even in that article I cited.  He did marry HER.  No prenup.  I think there was a lot of love there.  He is somewhat awkward in the way he speaks, as everyone who has heard him knows.

Don't know if you quoted him verbatim, but if he said 'I guess getting married', well, that would make me sad if that's how my husband would've responded.

Then he made mention of Microsoft in the same breath.  Yes, very business-like.

Who knows?  Many have reconciled after separation, even after divorce.

We will see what happens.

I don't think that extremely wealthy people avoid problems with love, insecurity, friendships and relationships, etc. just because they have money.  In that sense, they are very much like the rest of us.

Re: The Best Decision Bill Gates Ever Made

I KNOW the answer:

Bill Gates is actually the larger farm land owner in the United States.

So think back to Green Acres, he wants to go to the farm and his wife

unlike Eva Gabor, doesn't want to go.

Plausible.

Re: The Best Decision Bill Gates Ever Made

The announcement made me feel sad.  They have had such amazing, interesting lives and always seemed to be a team.  I hope it doesn't turn out to be a long, public divorce or aired dirty laundry (like the Royal Family).
