Re: The $5 found the red kettle!

@Laura14  I am inspired reading that you donated and that other posters are confident that it truly goes to a good cause.  It brought tears to my eyes to read from the one poster about the lady who received Christmas items for her and her children.

So, with that, I'm heading out to the mall to pick up an online order, and I will be dropping $5 in the kettle myself!

If you area blessed this time of year and able to spare $5, I encourage you to match @Laura14 's donation!

God Bless the Salvation Army. Just watched an interview about their organization.  When you donate in the kettle, that money (all money donated in that vicinity) stays in the area and helps people in the area.  Also read that of all the major charities, they have the lowest overhead costs and their CEO makes the lowest (most reasonable) salary. Other well known charities for helping those who are suffering in an emergency have very highly paid CEO's.  Definitely not so with Salvation Army.  You can feel confident when you put your $5 in the kettle that it is going to help someone who really needs it!

@graciesmom1003......that's exactly why I have included them in my will.

This is kind of interesting.....yesterday I had a call from my attorney.....a very dear friend.....  His birthday is Christmas Day....and I always call him for that.  He wasn't in the office when I called him, but his secretary told him I wished to talk with him.  So, he returned my call.  He was also the attorney for my oncologist before they were recently taken over by Mercy....and no longer represents him.  Any how, after talking about what has gone on with me and my physical problems, he did ask me if I have everything in order.....and I said yes....."you did it for me".  He had not pulled my file before calling me.  At the time of making out my will, he and I discussed it, and thought that was a good idea.  And it still stands that way today.

@sissel.......Well, if I had a lot, I would also like to give to St. Judes and Shriner's Hospital.  But I don't, so I can't.

Re: The $5 found the red kettle!

$5.00 went in as the smallest bill I happened to have at our local Supermarket yesterday. I live in a cold area and I wish Wal-Mart would let the bell ringers go inside. Everyone has to be in the elements, Girl Scouts and Vets. Store policy?

We have a busy thrift store here. I appreciate it as like to donate as hate to have yard sales. They take anything. My Mother's favorite charity  along with Veterans  organizations.
