Did anyone see the first episode last night? It's a revival (although they swore up and down it wasn't) of the old "Alive Live" local comedy show in Seattle. I love and revere "Almost Live" and I was SURE "The 206" couldn't possibly be as good; you can't catch lightning in a bottle twice.

I'm very happy to say I was 100% WRONG!!! It's as good as Almost Live and better. Yes, even though they have a lot of the Almost Live cast but they're as good as they ever were. Last night it was obvious they can get away with a lot more than they could 20 years ago. I think some people might have been surprised/dismayed at Pat Cashman "going blue" a little TINY bit, but it was in good taste (if a naughty joke can be) and Cashman did it just right--sort of, "with a wink and a nod".

John Keister, the original host, was part of the cast and so was Pat's son Chris Cashman, who's been working in the media almost since he could talk. His father is a beloved icon to Washingtonian comedy lovers and I think Chris is the apple that fell from the tree and he might even be better. I can't wait for next week.

Has anyone else see it? What did you think?

(I've got to focus on something positive because right now the Washington 'Skins are mopping up the field with the Seahawks.)
