Thanksgiving volunteering in Philadelphia are?

My daughter and I always help out on Thanksgiving at a soup kitchen. This year we have not heard back from anyone at the organization.

Does anyone know of any soup kitchens/shelters/organizations in the NJ/Philadelphia area that needs volunteers on Thanksgiving?

It seems unbelievable that you are willing to donate your time, and yet nobody wants you!

Try your local 211 phone number, if you have it. Or give a call to your church regional office (Catholic Diocese, for example). I remember hearing that it IS difficult to volunteer on Thanksgiving, because so many people are willing to do it. It is the other days of the year that go short staffed.

Good luck!
