I know there are others who will disagree with me (some will even harp on it sometimes), it can't be easy to try and be fair to all, and if necessary, even to shut down threads. Kudos to all the mods here!!!
This thread is hilarious. Considering they've been deleting some posts, it shows how untrue that really is. lol
Given the inequity that you state, why do you think people continue to post on this forum?
Excellent question, @deepwaterdotter. I'm also curious to know what makes the comment made by @Krimpette untrue.
Your comment shows you share the same lack of understanding as the one who failed to educate herself on the what the right to freedom of speech really means and what you agreed to when you signed up to be a member of this forum.
You might want to educate yourself. Freedom of speech ONLY means the government can't come after you for what you say. It does not impact what privately owned forums, social media, etc, allow or don't allow.
I agree that the poster showed no understanding of free speech as evidenced by her comment regarding the deleting of posts. At this point one would have to oblivious not to have figured it out as it's talked about on the forums ad nauseum.
I was more interested as to why she said what @Krimpette said was untrue. Unfortunately she was unable to answer that very simple question.

I understood exactly what that poster meant.

It would be nice to hear the explanation from the one who made the accusation but since you understand it exactly maybe you would be so kind as to explain.
eta ~ it's surprising you're so Johnny-on-the-spot to say you understood but not so Eager to clarify. Life is full of disappointments, lol. ![]()

@occasionalrain wrote:While moderating is difficult, disappearing threads without a given reason, deleting threads that get a lot of posts rather than just the posts that break rules are sending posters away.
So many interesting posters are gone. Perhaps that's the Q's intention, to have the Forum just fade away.
@occasionalrain, I don't know if you have ever moderated a message board, but depending on how busy it can be on any given day, post can come in fast and furious. It can be difficult to keep up and read a fraction of what is posted. That's why a "Report Inappropriate Content" button is needed. Even then attempting to sort through and cherry-pick to remove only offending post, in a fast moving thread, can become very time consuming and some post may be missed.
And I'm not of the belief that so many posters are gone. Of course there are some that fade away through the natural course of their life, but I believe many are still here resurrected under new names...and new names...and new names.

I would hardly consider these Forums to be "fast moving", in my observations.

@jubilant , any time I can recall that I've seen you respond to someone violating civil conduct codes, you do it in a way that complies with your high standards of discourse, and so is well within the Q conduct standards. So you are contributing something positive when you do.
It's when posters start to respond "in kind" to the baseless name-callers and the deliberate rude-niks, that things seem to go south on social media very quickly. It's become apparent that that's what disrupters want.
There are so many posters here who DO communicate in good faith-- like you, for example-- that I've grown to believe that most energy is better directed toward them.

This is Q's private website. They own it and can do whatever they want with it and don't 'owe' anyone a reason.
There are things that we all don't like or would prefer they do. We would like to know why. Q does that to some degree, though nil in some areas.
Q's only goal is to make money, the same as it is for all large corporations. They care about shareholders and revenue. The only thing they care about with viewers is their money.
if you don't like how Q does things, buy elsewhere. I do.

If the moderators only jobs were to oversee this forum, I'm sure they would be able to be more discriminating when deleting threads/posts.
But they have other duties besides babysitting this place 24 hours a day.

These forums may not be fast moving, but look at all of the categories.

It's a shame that certain posters on the "other board" find it necessy to post bash after bash over there of the moderating here. As I mentioned in starting this thread, it was meant to show my appreciate of the work the moderators do to keep things running smoothly. As several of the responses to this thread have indicated, the moderators' job is certainly not an easy one. Thanks again, mods!!!!!!
