Re: Thai cave rescue in progress - preliminary report: 2 boys may be out

[ Edited ]

I Mother Nature is helping...a lot!

The water levels are lower than anticipated...where they can walk.

This is moving along MUCH quicker than aniticipated.

It was estimated around 10-11:00est, so the weather is in their favor.

Local tweets are saying....the weakest came out first

and one is in serious condition.

@sidsmom  Yes, plus they have been pumping out gallons of water daily from the caves.

Re: Thai cave rescue in progress - preliminary report: 2 boys may be out

**UPDATE**

Six schoolboys have been brought out 'alive and well' after divers executed a carefully constructed rescue mission.

The starved and exhausted pair are currently being transported to hospital in a military helicopter. They were treated at the cave's entrance before an ambulance rushed them to the helicopter which was on standby.

'Two kids are out,' said Tossathep Boonthong, chief of Chiang Rai’s health department and part of the rescue team. 'They received treatment at the field hospital near the cave.'

Another four of the boys are expected to walk out shortly, Lieutenant-General Kongcheep Tantrawanit has said.

They are currently at the divers’ base camp, inside the cave system. 'Four boys have reached chamber three and will walk out of the cave shortly,' he said.

You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Re: Thai cave rescue in progress - preliminary report: 2 boys may be out

CNN reported that the strongest were brought out first, which I thought was odd and counterintuitive.  Then I thought, maybe they want to focus all resources on the weaker and, therefore, brought out the strongest first.  But this news differs from the post above saying that the weakest were brought out/walked out first.

Still, amazingly good news to wake up to today.

the story now is the planning, the logistics, the bravery of this rescue -  and how the coach and the boys kept it together in the dark moments - no light - no food - water issues- etc.

There's a lot to be said for the power of camaraderie and esprit de corps.

That is why our armed forces and those of other countries are careful to foster it.  I am impressed by the credo of "Leave no man behind," too.

(I heard on the news last night that the coach "works" (that was the word used) at a nearby Buddhist temple, and they showed footage of the monks praying with fervor for the group in the cave.)

@golding76  I heard conflicting information on two news channels.  Originally one news station said the weakest were taken out first and about 15 minutes later another news chanel said that the strongest were taken out first.  Both channels were reporting what a smart decision it was to take the strongest/weakest out first.  I think it will take some time before the truth regarding some of the information is sorted out.  Just grateful that the rescue is taking place!

@phoenixbrd

I would probably be a stickler for details but

since the Press isn’t allowed anywhere close,

all the news from ALL sources has wiggle room.

The Thai Governement will be the official word when

they decide to give a press conference.
