Several.

I don't see it as a failure to communicate. I see it as an ADDED way to communicate.

If I want to have a conversation, I call. If I just need to send some quick info such as "when are we meeting for dinner" or "are you free this weekend" I text.

It's very convenient to have different options.

Is there a reason that someone would be "anti" texting?

Personally I'd rather pick up the phone and talk to the person than text. Just like writing things out on this board, I think a lot gets lost in the translation of texting because it's all just words on a screen.

It is kind of interesting that people who are essentially "texting" on message boards would be anti texting.

This is only my own personal feeling - I'm not "anti" texting in general, but people who text while driving or while walking in stores tend to make texting a bad thing. Nothing is that important to put other drivers at risk or to have other customers have to go around the texting person in stores.

I understand people who need texting for work or perhaps a serious illness is going on, but there is still a time and place to text.

Pull over or move over if you absolutely have to text or even talk on your phone. It's just good manners and a safety issue.

Not really. That's an apples and oranges comparison.

That's because I don't know you. I prefer to hear the voices of loved ones.

I call and text. I don't text and drive or while I am with other people. It's just a way to stay in contact

In a month? Maybe 10. DH and I are the only ones who text each other, and it doesn't happen often.

Besides, my phone isn't on when I'm at work (or at home), so if anyone texts and expects a quick reply, they're SOL!

Oh, well, I totally agree that no one should be texting OR talking on a phone while they're driving. I wasn't implying that texting while driving was OK. I would NEVER do that and hate to see people doing it. A kid rear ended my car in October while he was texting, the jerk.
